Charlotte is Now Flourishing!

We have some great ways that you can help other children THRIVE, too!

Charlotte* was one of the first-ever children to be enrolled at City of Hope - she joined the HopeCo family 14 years ago after her parents divorced and her grandmother could no longer care for her. We have seen Charlotte make tremendous strides since arriving at City of Hope all those years ago, and we are grateful that she is part of our family!

And we have exciting news… Charlotte has just completed high school! During the past few years, she has excelled in sports, playing soccer, volleyball, and netball at a regional level. She has received awards for being the top student in English. And she has grown as a leader, too, having participated in a leadership training summit in Nairobi, Kenya, as well as other mentorship programs.

So, what is next for Charlotte? She is excited to study at university during the next academic year. But that’s not all. “I want to help others - especially disabled children and orphans,” she explains. “Perhaps this will be as a lawyer or a journalist. I also want to grow as a leader. And I desire to serve God in my life.”

The City of Hope has been a blessing to me. When I came here, my heart was full of bitterness because of how my father treated me. But by the grace of God, I found myself accepted here. This is now my family, and I am flourishing.

YOU can help young people like Charlotte flourish! Your gift today of a school uniform and books, a soccer ball or volleyball, or leadership books and resources will enable them to thrive as they look to the future and the good plans God has for them. Will you help empower them?

  • Give a Child Their Own School Uniform ($70 for a school uniform and a set of textbooks for one child)

We have been thrilled by the progress that Charlotte has made with her education. But did you know that many kids in Africa never step inside a classroom because they can’t afford school uniforms or books? By giving a child what they need for their classes, you empower them with a quality education - and give them new hope!

  • Leadership Development Books and Resources ($50 for leadership books and resources)

Seeing our kids grow as leaders is one of our biggest objectives - as Charlotte has discovered! Help us purchase leadership books and resources for our new leadership library at City of Hope - and enable many more young leaders to flourish!

  • Soccer Balls or Volleyballs ($15 for one ball)

As Charlotte found out, play is a powerful way to help vulnerable kids heal, feel safe, and enjoy just being a child. By giving a soccer ball or volleyball, you also provide joy, laughter, and friendly competition!
