As we have grown our work in East Africa – first in Tanzania and now also in Kenya – we have recognized the immense value of the capable and passionate leaders that God has brought to serve with us in East Africa. One such leader is our Africa Regional Director, Hudson Mahare.

Meet Hudson and Hilda

Hudson has served with us for ten years and became Executive Director of City of Hope on the death of our founder in 2015. This was an incredibly challenging time for anyone to take up the mantle of leadership, but Hudson quickly demonstrated wisdom and discernment in this role. Under his direction, City of Hope has flourished as construction projects have been successfully completed and new programs started – including our new secondary school in 2017. Many improvements to our programs have also been evident under Hudson’s leadership. Our schools are thriving, girls are being rescued from abusive practices, young women are being trained in vital skills, and the lives of many children and young people have been changed forever by the power of Jesus!

Hudson’s wife, Hilda, also provides essential leadership in the area of trauma care and counseling – an increasingly important part of our work. Her expertise as the Kenya Program Manager, and her compassionate heart are invaluable as we bring healing and hope to children that have experienced much pain and suffering in their lives.
