Projects

Agri-business Development

Phase I: The City of Hope's agri-business center includes 35 acres of farmland, dairy and beef cows, chickens, and honey production. These enterprises help to make The City of Hope self-sustaining and also help meet the needs of widows and the poor in the community.

Our Goal

Agricultural Development Phase II: Our goal is to develop 200 - 500 acres for farming. We will train nationals with modern agricultural techniques and be able to harvest cash crops along with milk, eggs, poultry and beef. We have already brought the first tractor into this area that has greatly helped with both the agriculture and the building projects. The farm will provide food for the residents of The City of Hope, as well as provide cash crops to meet other needs. To buy 200 more acres and two more tractors, we need: $410,000.

How you can get involved:

We are seeking farm equipment to equip our Agricultural center.

We are seeking those who will commit finances to aid The City of Hope to become self-sustaining, by developing our Agri-business project.

Dream Center

(to be opened in October'09):

The Dream Center is the place where dreams to change the future can be fulfilled. At the dream center, we give young people an opportunity to realize their dreams. We are able to give them a new beginning, and the ability to dream again. At the Dream Center we are passionate about helping children in poverty.

The Dream Center will include classrooms, a library, a computer center, kitchen, dining room and auditorium. Our goal is not just to train the children but also to equip a community - it is about community transformation.

The Dream Center will equip the people of Tanzania with the skills to break the cycle of poverty. We will teach financial principles, micro-financing, time management, goal setting, administration, and mind management. Equipping a future generation of leaders is one of the crucial factors in achieving success in the battle against HIV/AIDS through culturally relevant and appropriate solutions.

Skills that will be taught are:

  • Micro-financing - starting small culturally effective and efficient indigenous businesses
  • Home economics
  • Sewing
  • Mechanics
  • Basic computer skills
  • Agriculture
  • Animal husbandry
  • Masonry
  • Carpentry

"This success is measured in lives saved, families held intact, and nations moving forward with development."

- Ambassador Randall L. Tobias - U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator

Micro-financing

Through micro-financing we will help those who go through the Dream Center training to be established in culturally relevant small entrepreneurial businesses.
